> WORKSHOP Perception - Beyong
Seeing, By Andre Cabuche. April
2, 2005, 3:00 - 5:00 p.m., The Roundhouse Community Centre.
PCV is offering this workshop to club members, at a cost of
$10, following our monthly meeting and critique on April 2nd.
Preregistration and payment are necessary and will be collected
at this Saturday's meeting, Feb. 26. If you can't make it to
the meeting, contact Lynne at clynne17@yahoo.ca to reserve a
spot and arrange payment.
This instructional program "utilizes 'original' slides
and dual screens to offer the audience the optimum in learning
benefits by comparing side by side 'Before and After' images."
Andre describes the program as follows:
A power-packed program on composition and how it applies to
visual communication. Profusely illustrated throughout with
pictorial photographs of a great variety of subject matter,
the presentation will examine the relationship between photography
and the psychological characteristics of sight and perception
using photographs, diagrams and audience involvement. The program
will then move quickly into the main topics: Composition, Colour
Theory, Lighting, and much more.
Three different voluntary assignments are discussed and offered
to help you improve your perceptual awareness of your visual
world..."On the Belly," "Colour--One Step at
a Time," and "Silhouettes."
After studying art and design, Andre had an extensive career
as a professional photographer, graphic artist and audiovisual
producer with the Canadian Forces.
He is the recipient of numerous national and international awards
for his images, and was awarded the distinction of AFIAP (Artist)
in 1979 by the Federation Internationale de L'Art Photographique
in Europe. In 1994 he received one of the highest honours in
Canada for his career work in the photographic, audivisual and
digital imagery fields, the Order of Military Merit. He has
been official photographer to various lieutenant-governors and
governors-general.
Andre lives in Kelowna and currently freelances in photography,
AV production and leading workshops. Special areas of interest
include environmental portraiture, glamour photography and theory
of perception and visual literacy. He has been on the committee
organizing the Okanagan Photographic Art Workshops (OPAW) in
Kelowna, since 2003.
This is great opportunity to attend one of Andre's most popular
programs, at nominal cost. The workshop will be held in the
Multi Media "B" room, which holds about 35 people,
so don't be disappointed. Lynne Howden |

MODEL PHOTOGRAPHY
Here's an opportunity to do some model photography.
Elizabeth Mary, an experienced model from Nanaimo, will be in
Vancouver the weekend of March 15-18. She remains available
to do photo shoots on Sunday, March
17 and Monday the 18th (she's already booked on Friday
and Saturday). She wishes to do so on a TFP basis, that is,
modelling in exchange for prints.
There is no charge for her time, except she wants a contribution
of $50/day to help pay for her travelling expenses. She would
be available for 5-6 hours for either one photographer or a
small group. The photographer(s) would have to have a studio
set up and be prepared to provide prints. For more info and
to contact her, go to her website at:
http://bearmodeling.com/
Please RSVP directly to Elizabeth Mary.

DIGITAL MEDIA WORKSHOP
March 11, 2002 there is
a digital media all day session for those who can attend at
the Coast Hotel on Comox St (off Denman, in the west end). A
great thing to attend for anyone whom uses digital cameras and
Photoshop. This would be very worthwhile to anyone who knows
a little about Photoshop.
This is an all day session: 9am-5pm, with a regular cost of
$199.00 to get in but there is a way to get in for quite less
maybe $30 -$40.00.
